Strix by Weredog

Strix is a gryphon talon by character design and is the most highly detailed model offered by Weredog to date.
This is sold as a stimulator, or grinder toy, but really its a bit ambiguous as to what you can use it for...
SPECS: Regular, Medium
Wait time wasn't long at all for this inventory item, the actual courier once they had the box delivered the next day ! When you reveal your purchase from under the cardboard there is a greeting from roscoe the mascot which also has handy care information, some Weredog logo stickers and a storage bag wrapped in tissue paper. The items always arrive in heat sealed bags/wrap and dusted with corn flour to maintain the surface finish in what could be storage as they have no way to know that you will or won't open it any time soon.
I love the storage bags that come with weredog toys, being 100% cotton excluding the print itself, the drawstring keeps the item inside dust free, a little tip-before you put the nice cleaned toy inside, TURN the bag INSIDE OUT and wash the bag! This gets rid of any loose fibre from the making of the bag, like cut thread or black fluff. I say this from experience of washing the bag right way round and still ended up with such debris on my new freshly cleaned toy of course! No fault to Weredog just a friendly note to you.
The logo is boldly printed and makes identifying at least the brand in a minefield of other bags if you have a few. I make my own 100 % cotton drawstring bags just like these for all the other stores that don't provide one or charge extra as I do sew as a hobby but I thank weredog for saving me the task. I store my toys on glass shelves mostly but I do like to have bags ready in case for whichever reason I should need to hide them from immediate view.

I do not have any other paw or foot or claw models for any sort of comparison. The reason I didn't opt for a Masons paw was the lack of surface texture with the intention of grinding in mind as I don't have any particular draw to feet paws etc in general. This was not purchased for company or an emotional support hand, I had the absolute intent to use this in any sexually stimulating way I could find.
I tried unsuccessfully to find reviews of Strix that said anything to do with actual sexual use so it remained unclear before buying how much of an asset Strix would be. I had put the question out there to the community but there wasn't any answers provided. I had searched posts that mentioned Strix and failed to find any opinions other than as a hand to hold or a description of the weight which although useful info was not helpful, so I decided I would take the plunge and find out what it's all about.

Inventory had this funky all the pastels limited edition pour, when I see it on Strix as a flop for a very small nick/ abrasion from demoulding I couldn't justify not purchasing as it had been an awful long time since I had seen any pastel pours that took my interest.
The way these stripes wrap Strix's details give the appearance of those socks that have individual toes that were all the rage in the 90's which is just so charming and positive!
Personally I don't really get into character art for any of my toys but this is supposed to be a gryphons foot, but to me it has strong dinosaur vibes especially in some of the greener or red with black highlight.
This Strix is more to the imaginary friend style dinosaur due to the bright pour, which further pushes the original art out of my mind.

The ways to use this are many and few if you can't fit the wides circumference vaginally. When you go to custom one you can only pick Soft firmness, I had never actually noticed any hit inventory in medium, and as I knew it would most likely be used for it's fingers due to the size, and as a grinder I felt medium would suit better for this main purpose.
In Medium the fingers still squish much like soft at the tips, and are flexible with the claws being so squishy and completely tame. On the palms and fingerprint sections the texture is so incredibly fine and impressively detailed, offering a really unique clitoral stimulation and gently pleases general erogenous zones when used as like a hand for masturbation. I enjoy the shape of the finger digits as they are bulbous but the texture is wild in a teasing way. The easiest position for one digit insertion aside from the 'thumb' is the middle one in my opinion because you rest the left and right digit over your tendon area of the groin and the middle finger inserted you can then pivot the rocking motion on your pubic bone using less effort than trying to cumbersomely aim it at yourself as it is very big and a little heavy. I find two digits feels a little like a swell or waved toy and is a fun warm up tool. I reckon if I had this same toy in soft it could compress better at the widest point of the finger bulbs or breadth of the knuckles to be inserted vaginally by some from the written dimensions. Yet when you see it in person the width is shocking and for myself with this especially being medium firm, I cannot squish it enough thus far.

The plate like armour skin layered over the back grows in width with the shape of the sculpt has ridges that can be softly stimulating, but in my opinion the palm side is much more enjoyable but on longer sweeping motions these ridges do reverberate a slight rippling sensation its just a bit too subtle for me. This surprised me because I assumed the opposite would have been true, I love ridges, but these aren't very deep cut but for some this is a better representation of the foot style it is meant to be so they couldn't change that really.
You can cup the fingers over your pubic area and insert the 'thumb' to ride and grind at the same time which is fun because of the angle of this digit presses well for me inside. I could say I don't think this would be as good in soft as it may not have the right firmness for the size of the digit girth , and the textures are subtle so for some it may not feel so exciting in soft. The weight of the models wrist area shines for riding this way as it doesn't lift up so readily and its higher up in the middle making it a great shape work with in a few ways.

My opinion is that for me the medium works well for the grinder stimulator best as intended when I bought mine, for those aiming to squish this against themselves it is still soft enough to clench its fist, and flex its toes. The positives for my personal intended uses of Strix in medium outweighed the ideas of possibly unachievable uses in soft, as the size would most likely be too big to use internally even if i could squash it more and its not really sold for that anyway. With that in mind externally I need the textures to be either prominent or in a firmness that offers a little more resistance with pressure in use which I feel my Strix is just perfect for! I would suggest weredog throw a few more paws/claws now and then in medium firm as they offer a better resistance for grinding on or against and are still squishy enough to play with in many ways.

In my use of this model so far I would summarise by saying Strix is a fun model that takes a little imagination as its purpose is still ambiguous, yes you can just shake it like a dinosaur washing it's hands, or use it for much more devilish deeds, but is it quite a grinder? Not strictly speaking, but yes also. Is it a penetrable? well, yeah kind of but cumbersome, best to rub over and gently tease with. is it an insertable? Definitely not anally, as it has no base to stop it from going 'too far'. Vaginally Yes, partially or absolutely but unless the latter is true it's not quite a dildo. This is a great couples toy as it can be easily placed between both partners and ground on with much enthusiasm the thumb lending itself to insertion simultaneously.
So what is it- A stimulator! Use as you please, just take firmness and intended use into consideration when purchasing, as a sort of grinder I would highly suggest holding out for one in medium firmness.
The extra resistance compared to soft mean the structure of Strix feels a bit more claw/foot like in the hand too which may be worth considering for this avian (aka imaginary dinosaur) design in particular.

The FLOP was listed very clearly and is hardly noticeable without the red arrow sticker pointing at it! Although there is a colour run in the pour that had not been photographed or mentioned, I am very happy with my Strix regardless, as it suits the abstract nature of the collection as a whole. I would recommend to those who are a little more tantric, like the idea of the littler textures that feel like enlarged fingerprints or even as indicated those who want to feel the pressure of a giant gryphons foot!
